NHS Blood Pressure Check Service
High blood pressure has no symptoms — yet it's one of the biggest risk factors for heart disease and stroke. Our free checks help detect hypertension early, potentially saving lives.
Stage 1 — Clinic Blood Pressure Check
A trained pharmacist measures your blood pressure using an NHS-approved device, discusses your result and what it means, and provides personalised lifestyle advice to support heart health.
What your result means:
Stage 2 — Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM)
The gold standard for confirming hypertension. If your clinic reading is elevated, we provide a monitor worn for 24 hours, recording readings throughout the day. Results are shared with your GP to guide any necessary treatment — following NICE guidelines.
Why This Matters
An estimated 5.5 million people in the UK have undiagnosed high blood pressure. Cardiovascular disease causes 1 in 4 premature deaths in England. Early detection through community pharmacy can reduce strokes, heart attacks, and hospital admissions.
