1. Who we are

This website, skeltonschemists.co.uk, is operated by Skeltons Chemists Ltd, an independent community pharmacy trading from 2 Congreve Walk, Bedworth, Warwickshire, CV12 8LY. We have been serving the local community since 1852.

For the purposes of UK data protection law, Skeltons Chemists Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. Our Information Governance Lead and Senior Information Risk Owner is Shail Patel, Director, who can be contacted using the details above.

2. Scope of this policy

This policy explains how we handle personal data collected when you visit this website, contact us by phone, email or in person, or use any of the services described on it. It applies to visitors, prospective patients and existing patients alike.

It sits alongside — but does not replace — the fuller Patient Privacy Notice that is displayed on our pharmacy premises and available on request, which covers in detail how we process clinical and health-related information when you use our dispensing and clinical services. Where the two documents overlap, the in-pharmacy notice takes precedence for clinical records.

3. Data collected through this website

This is an informational website. It does not process online medicine orders, take payments, or hold a patient login area. The personal data we may collect through the website itself is limited to:

  • Contact details you give us voluntarily — for example, if you email or telephone us using the details published on the site, or fill in a contact/enquiry form, to ask about our services, book a private consultation, or make a general enquiry.
  • Technical and usage information — such as your device type, browser, approximate location and pages visited, collected automatically to help us understand how the site is used and to keep it running securely. See Section 4 below.

Where our site links you to an NHS national booking service (for example, to book an NHS vaccination appointment), any information you enter there is collected and processed by NHS England, not by us. Please refer to the relevant NHS service's own privacy notice.

4. Cookies and analytics

Cookies are small text files placed on your device to help websites function and to gather basic usage statistics. This website may use:

  • Strictly necessary cookies — required for the site to function correctly (for example, remembering your cookie preferences).
  • Analytics cookies — used to understand how visitors use the site (such as which pages are most viewed), so we can improve it. Where used, these do not identify you personally.

You can control or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Blocking cookies may affect how parts of the site display or function.

We currently DO NOT use cookies on the website.

Our website may contain affiliate links on some pages e.g. links to our other company websites or official NHS websites. Clicking on these links may track your actions by using a cookie saved to your device. Your actions may be recorded as a referral from our website by a cookie on the third party website.

5. Personal data collected in the pharmacy

If you go on to use our NHS or private pharmacy services — including dispensing, Pharmacy First, the NHS Contraception Service, NHS Blood Pressure Checks, the Private Travel Vaccination Clinic, the Private Weight Loss Clinic or the Ear Wax Removal Clinic — we will collect and process further personal data as part of your care. This typically includes:

  • Your name, address, date of birth and contact details;
  • Details of medicines prescribed or supplied to you;
  • Relevant health information you or a healthcare professional provide, including symptoms, medical history, allergies and, where relevant, travel history;
  • Records of consultations, advice given and any consent you provide.

Full patient privacy notice

Details of how this clinical information is used, stored, shared and retained are set out in full in our Patient Privacy Notice, displayed in the pharmacy and available on request at the counter or by contacting us using the details in Section 1.

6. Our lawful basis for processing

Under UK GDPR, we must have a lawful basis for every use of personal data. The bases we rely on are:

  • Article 6(1)(e) — necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest, which covers our core NHS pharmaceutical and advanced services (dispensing, Pharmacy First, the Contraception Service, Blood Pressure Checks).
  • Article 9(2)(h) — for special category health data, necessary for the provision of health care or treatment or the management of health or social care systems.
  • Article 6(1)(a) — consent — used for private clinical consultations (Travel Vaccination Clinic, Weight Loss Clinic, Ear Wax Removal Clinic), for any marketing communications, and for optional website contact forms.
  • Article 6(1)(b) — necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a service with us, or to fulfil a contract (for example, an employment contract for staff).
  • Article 6(1)(c) — necessary to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations, including those set by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and HMRC.

7. Who we share your data with

We only share personal data where necessary, and only with organisations who have appropriate safeguards in place. This includes:

  • Your GP practice and other NHS healthcare professionals involved in your care, with your consent where required;
  • NHS England, the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) and NHS Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care Board, for payment, commissioning and NHS management purposes;
  • The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), for regulatory and professional standards purposes;
  • Our IT and service providers acting as data processors under contract, currently: ProScript Connect (clinical/PMR system), PharmOutcomes / Outcomes4Health (advanced and clinical service recording), NHSmail (secure NHS email), and Xero (payroll — employment data only);
  • Regulators, law enforcement or other bodies where we are legally required to do so.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

8. How long we keep your data

Type of recordRetention period
NHS prescriptions and pharmaceutical service recordsLife of the patient plus 10 years, in line with NHS record-keeping guidance
Private prescriptions (non-controlled drugs)2 years
Controlled drug prescriptions (Schedule 2 and 3)2 years
Private clinical services (Travel Clinic, Weight Loss, Ear Wax, private Contraception)Minimum 8 years from last consultation (or until the patient's 25th birthday if a minor at the time of treatment)
Employment recordsDuration of employment plus 7 years
General website enquiriesRetained only as long as needed to respond, then deleted

9. Keeping your data secure

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including secure, individually logged-in clinical systems, restricted access to patient records on a need-to-know basis, secure NHS-approved email for clinical communication, staff confidentiality agreements, and secure storage and disposal of paper records. These measures are reviewed annually as part of our Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) submission.

10. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Be informed about how your data is used (this policy and our Patient Privacy Notice);
  • Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you, normally free of charge and within one calendar month;
  • Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • Erasure — ask us to delete your data, though this has limited application to clinical records that we are legally required to retain;
  • Restrict processing in certain circumstances;
  • Object to processing, including for direct marketing;
  • Data portability, where processing is based on consent and carried out by automated means;
  • Not be subject to automated decision-making — we do not use this.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 1 or Section 14.

11. Children and young people

Some of our NHS services have specific age limits (for example, Pharmacy First treats certain conditions from age 1, and Blood Pressure Checks are aimed at adults 40+). Where a child or young person receives care from us, we collect only the information necessary for that care, and a parent or guardian is normally involved as appropriate. This website itself is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children through it.

12. Links to other websites

Our website contains links to third-party websites, including NHS national booking services, NHS.uk, our social media pages, and our sister site, Skeltons Photolab. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external sites. Please check the privacy policy of any third-party site before submitting personal data to it.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services, technology, or the law. The "last updated" date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. We encourage you to check back periodically.

14. Contact us and complaints

Part 2

Terms & Conditions

1. About this website

This website (skeltonschemists.co.uk) is owned and operated by Skeltons Chemists Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 05751761), trading as an independent community pharmacy from 2 Congreve Walk, Bedworth, Warwickshire, CV12 8LY. Our pharmacy premises are registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) under number 1037795, and our Superintendent Pharmacist is Pooja Patel (GPhC registration 2077624).

This website is provided to give general information about our pharmacy, our opening hours, and the NHS and private services we offer. It is not an online pharmacy and does not sell medicines, take prescription orders, or process payments directly through the site.

2. Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using this website, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Policy above. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use this website.

3. Not a substitute for medical advice

⚠ In an emergency, call 999 or attend your nearest A&E

For urgent but non-life-threatening advice, call NHS 111 or visit 111.nhs.uk. Do not rely on this website in a medical emergency.

The content on this website is provided for general information only and does not constitute medical advice. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, or provide a substitute for a consultation with a pharmacist, GP, or other qualified healthcare professional. Always seek the advice of a healthcare professional with any questions you may have about a medical condition or medication, including anything you have read on this site.

4. NHS services described on this site

Services such as Pharmacy First, the NHS Pharmacy Contraception Service, and NHS Blood Pressure Checks are commissioned and governed by NHS England and Community Pharmacy England's terms of service and relevant service specifications. Eligibility, age limits, and clinical pathways for these services are set nationally and are subject to change; the descriptions on this website are a general guide and do not guarantee that a particular treatment or service will be available or suitable for you on any given visit. A clinical assessment by our pharmacist is always required before treatment is provided.

5. Private services described on this site

Our private clinics — the Travel Vaccination Clinic, Weight Loss Clinic, and Ear Wax Removal Clinic — are provided at our discretion, following a clinical assessment, and subject to suitability. Descriptions, indicative timings and vaccine/medication lists on this website are provided for general guidance only.

  • Current pricing is available on request, by phone, or in-pharmacy, and may change from time to time.
  • We reserve the right to decline to provide a private service where it is not clinically appropriate to do so.
  • Cancellation or rescheduling of private appointments should be discussed directly with the pharmacy team.

6. Enquiries, bookings and appointments

Most services described on this site do not require an appointment — walk-ins are welcome during opening hours. Where the site links to an NHS national online booking service, that booking system is operated by NHS England, and your use of it is subject to the NHS's own terms and privacy notice, not ours. We are not responsible for the availability, content, or performance of third-party booking systems.

7. Accuracy of information

We take reasonable care to keep the information on this website accurate and up to date, including our opening hours, services offered, and contact details. However, we do not guarantee that all content is always current, complete, or error-free, and services, hours and availability may change without notice. Please contact us directly at 024 7631 3259 to confirm anything time-sensitive before visiting.

8. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise stated, all content on this website — including text, graphics, logos, and images — is owned by or licensed to Skeltons Chemists Ltd and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may view and print pages for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not reproduce, republish, or distribute any part of this site for commercial purposes without our prior written permission.

9. Links to third-party websites

This website contains links to third-party sites, including NHS.uk, NHS national booking services, our social media pages, and our sister business, Skeltons Photolab, which operates under its own separate terms and conditions. We provide these links for convenience only and are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or privacy practices of external websites.

10. Acceptable use

You agree to use this website only for lawful purposes. You must not use the site in any way that could damage, disable, overburden or impair it, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the site, our systems, or any connected network.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Skeltons Chemists Ltd accepts no liability for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, this website, or from reliance on any information contained on it. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under English law.

12. Complaints

If you have a concern about the care or service you have received from us, please raise it with us directly in the first instance, using the contact details below — we aim to resolve concerns quickly and informally wherever possible.

If you remain unhappy
